The FIBA Afrobasket draw was done in Kigali on Friday May 28, and the Kenya Morans were placed in group C alongside West African heavyweights Nigeria, Mali and Ivory Coast.
The draw for the 16-team tournament was conducted in Rwanda's capital Kigali.
Kenya will go in as the underdogs but Morans record of upsetting big teams on the continental showpiece might continue.
Kenya will be under the leadership of Coach Liz Mills, who enters the competition as the only female head coach in the Afrobasket. The focus will now shift to the preparation and training camp ahead of the task.
Kenya Morans qualified for the continental showpiece for the first time in 28 years by shocking Angola 74-73 on the buzzer in their Group ‘B’ qualifiers in Yaounde, Cameroon in February.
That historic triumph saw Kenya finish third in their group and thus booking a spot in the AfroBasket.
Morans will be looking forward to leaving a mark at the Afrobasket with a remarkable performance in the Kigali Arena.
