England and Scotland played out a goalless draw at Wembley in their first meeting in a major tournament since 1996.

 Scotland will feel a sigh of relief after their opening defeaning defeat by the Czech Republic at Hampden Park.

Steve Clarke's side played with real resilience and character to fully deserve the important point.

 

England, who were sluggish on the night and were disappointing to say the least.

John Stones headed Mason Mount's corner against the woodwork in the first half but the Tartan Army settled and improved as time went by.

Gareth Southgate's side, who beat Croatia 1-0 in the opener now have a chance to overtake the Czech Republic and win Group D in their final game while Scotland will chase victory against Croatia at Hampden Park.

In another match, Patrick Schick scored his third goal of the tournament as the Czech Republic drew 1-1 with Croatia. 

In the early kick off, Emil Fosberg scored from the spot to give Sweden a 1-0 win over Slovakia.
