
Kenya Women's Volleyball teams managed to beat Nigeria on Wednesday 23rd of June in a match that saw them completely cement their spot in the final phase for the FIVB Continental Cup also regarded as the Olympic Qualifiers. Kenya pinned a win against Cape Verde on Tuesday June 22 in their opening match of the Tournament.
The win against Nigeria saw them quickly topping Group B. Kenya's team of Phoscah Kasisi and Yvonne Wavinya (Kenya Team Two) proved to be too strong for Nigerian pair of Touchi Nnoruga and Albert Ina Francisca (Nigeria Team one).
The Kenyan pair won 2-0 (21-13, 21-14). Impressive performances from Wavinya saw her hard serves being too much for the Nigerians and 14-9 lead was maintained through the first half of the match. Kasisi, also through an Interview with the Nation said that proper competition will begin on Friday. The KCB player also gave an assurance of their full determination for the sole Olympic slot.
Kenyan Team One pair of Guadencia Makokha and Brackcides Agala also proved to be the better side after beating Nigerian Team Two duo of Amarachi Nwachukuwa and Francisca Ikhiede. The scoreline being 2-0 (21-14, 21-14)
Kenya was slated up against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) today 24th of June but due to them having positive tests of covid, the DRC players are currently undergoing isolation in Agadir. This could possibly be a walkover if the players have a complete no-show for the day's match up.
