With the Olympic games just two weeks away, preparations and interesting changes have intensified. Quite certainly, the Olympic committee looks pretty much focused on ensuring the games run smoothly and are uniquely executed in line with Tokyo's current themes. On the other hand, spectators will be amazed by the facts and rules put in place for the summer games.
Well let's see how interesting the Tokyo Olympic Games will be.
- Robots
Tech Companies in Japan will use the event to showcase their interesting prototype machines. Not only that, this will be a very first experience since the robots will also be used to direct spectators to their designated seats, provide event information and transport food plus other sporting amenities. Term it as a futuristic spectacle that is bound to awe many if not all traditional sporting fans. More with tech, the Tokyo Olympics will also be the first to use large-scale face recognition systems that are bound to improve security and general venue access for the teams, officials and press members.
- Children and Nursing mothers allowed entry
For the very first time, Nursing mothers will be allowed to bring their children to the Tokyo Olympic Games. Apparently, the move came after Canadian basketball player, Kim Gaucher said she would have to make the difficult decision between going to the games or staying at home to breastfeed her child. More Athletes raised their voices mostly on social media to applaud the big move with the likes of America's national team footballer Alex Morgan saying how important it is to have mothers close to their children even as they compete. The nursing children will stay in approved hotels whereas the Olympic village will only be restricted to athletes and team officials.
- No Cheering!
Well if it doesn't get much more interesting, the games will have to maintain a pin drop silence. The Japanese organizers went further to explain that forbidding spectators from cheering, singing or chanting will certainly help in curbing the spread of the coronavirus. How athletes from around the world will react to not having their fans cheer them certainly remains to be seen. The restriction comes along with hugging, high-fiving and hand-shaking. How interesting.
- Recycled Medals
A showcase of sustainability will be taken up by the Japanese games organizers. Approximately 5,000 medals will be distributed at the games and all of the medals are surprisingly made from recycled electronic products such as old phones. Even more unique is the design ; one side of the medals bears a relief of Nike, the Goddess of Victory, originally drawn by an Italian artist, Gossoiolli in 1928. The other side bears the Tokyo 2020 Olympics
- Free condoms will not be used!
As funny as it may sound, the Olympic organizers will issue out 160,000 free condoms that will be 'souvenirs' to take home as per their terms. Intimacy or close contact of any kind will be strictly forbidden amongst the competitors even as they spend weeks living in close quarters. The mixed up message has baffled observers saying they simply cannot comprehend the need of giving out the free condoms in the first place. The International Olympic Committee also went further to threaten rule-breakers with a range of penalties, including fines, disqualification or even deportation.
