One of Kenya's Best exports, Teddy Akumu will be looking forward to tonight's clash that sees his side, Kazier Chiefs battle it out with Al Ahly to determine the winner of the CAF Champions League final at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco. The 28 year old Harambee Stars midfielder has currently had a total of 23 matches for the Soweto Giants, managing to hit the ball back in the net only once.
Kazier Chiefs will face the Red Devils from Egypt at exactly 10 p.m and hope to finish off the game early, a sentiment shared by some of the players in the team. During an interview, 21 year old midfield star Nkosingiphile Ngcobo said, "We just want to play them now, obviously we need to be very careful we need to execute our game plan very well, we are prepared to face them and we are ready to fight, we want to finish the game in 90 minutes."
Al Ahly led by coach Pitso Mosimane progressed through the group stage with relative comfort, finishing in second spot after collecting 11 points from their six games thanks to wins over Al-Merrikh, Vita Club and Simba, while only losing one game.
That saw them handed a quarter-final tie against Mamelodi Sundowns, and they took a 2-0 lead in the first leg thanks to goals from Taher Mohamed and Salah Mohsen, before Yasser Ibrahim made the aggregate lead 3-0 early in the second leg and a Mosa Lebusa goal would see the tie finish 3-1 on aggregate.
The Kaizer Chiefs squad will likely be led by Samir Nurkovic as the skipper, who has hit three CAF Champions League goals this campaign, and Leonardo Castro, who scored six goals in 26 appearances in this season's South African top flight.
The back three of Siyabonga Ngezana, Eric Mathoho and Daniel Cardoso featured in both legs of their semi-final win over Wydad AC, and that should remain unchanged after two impressive clean sheets.
