Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Patrick Ngunyi is set to extend his time on the sidelines after the club announced on Tuesday that the player is set to undergo surgery on an injured knee.
Ngunyi was diagnosed with patellar tendonitis, last year but physiotherapy sessions have been unable to cure the problem forcing the club to seek surgical intervention.
“Patrick Ngunyi, who was diagnosed with patellar tendonitis, is set to undergo athroscopy on Tuesday 27th April 21,” the club posted on its social media platforms.
The midfielder, who was promoted from Sharks’ junior team in 2019, had resumed training in January before suffering another setback.
The former Kenya U20 international joins experienced defender Samuel Olwande and fellow midfielder Patrick Otieno on the list of players who will have gone under the knife this season for the team that currently sits in fourth place league standings.
Otieno was the first to undergo a medical procedure when he was operated on in February after also damaging ligaments in his knee at the start of the season. Olwande on his part was forced onto the operating table earlier this month due to a torn cartilage in his right ankle.
