Africa 7s: Shujaa Advance to Main Cup Semis

Kenya rugby 7s team Shujaa, have secured a spot in the Africa 7's main cup semifinal scheduled for Sunday, April 24. 

Kenya, after handing Namibia a 33-7 defeat, booked themselves a spot in the semis with one match left to play. 

Shuja had earlier begun their Pool A fixtures after registering a comeback against Zimbabwe with a 24-19 victory.

Shujaa qualified for the championship round after defeating Senegal 19-0 in their seeding match. 

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. 

Shujaa are chasing their sixth title as they also seek to book a spot in both the Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens. 

The African Sevens tournament is also a stage for teams to battle for qualifiers for both the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in South Africa and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.  

Only three medalists will qualify for the Rugby World Sevens in South Africa while the finalists will book themselves a slot for the Commonwealth Games.  

Kenya will take on Madagascar on Sunday, April 24 for their final pool match.
