Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the ongoing 2022 PGA Championship in Southern Hills in Tulsa, Okla over a leg injury.
The PGA USA President announced in a statement on Saturday, May 21 after posting his worst career score in the third round of the event.
The golf star carded a 9-over 79 in the third round -his worst round ever at the PGA Championship and fifth-worst round at any PGA Tour event in his career.

With an additional five weeks for his leg to heal, Woods was hoping for better results at Southern Hills. But he struggled in the two rounds before Saturday's dramatic weather change didn't help his chances.
He ended the third round tied for 76th, at 12 over, and was 21 shots behind leader Mito Pereira.
This was Wood's first time withdrawing from a major golf championship in his entire professional career.
Woods' last withdrawal from any event came ahead of the second round of the 2019 Northern Trust.
"Tiger Woods has informed us that he is withdrawing from the 2022 PGA Championship," PGA of America President Jim Richerson stated in a statement.
"We admire Tiger's valiant effort to compete here at Southern Hills and wish him the best as he continues to recover from his injuries" added the Richerson.
The 46-year-old was playing his second event after a car crash in February 2021 in which he suffered severe leg injuries threatening his illustrious golf career.
Woods' withdrawal means only 78 players will contest the final round, where Mito Pereira will begin with a three-shot lead over Will Zalatoris and England's Matt Fitzpatrick.
Woods has not divulged whether he will play in the U.S. Open in June but has said he plans to compete at the British Open in July.
