
Just a day after the Sports Dispute Tribunal ruled that the 2021/2022 FKF Premier League season was invalid confusion has emerged over who will control football in Nairobi.
Nairobi County Football Association (NCFA) through a letter signed by their secretary general Wilfred Marori, claimed that they would be taking over football matters within Nairobi.
According to the letter dated August 24, the football offices at Nyayo house will be open from Friday, August 26.

“We take this opportunity to inform the public that Nyayo House offices have been officially acquired by Nairobi County Football Association.
“The office will be open from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Football stakeholders are urged to visit the office for football matters, compliance guidelines, leagues and tournaments management, and all football-related matters.
“Nairobi County Football Association having complied with sports act article 46.2.b with a registration certificate number 240, hereby gives a tice that all leagues and tournaments played within Nairobi must be sanctioned by the office as the solely Bonafide body mandated to run football activities in Nairobi County by law. Failure to adhere with the above, disciplinary sanctions will be imposed forthwith,” part of the letter read.
However, a letter by the Football Kenya Federation, claimed that they are the only authorized body mandated to run football affairs in Nairobi and Kenya at large.
“Reference is hereby made to the purported letter from Nairobi County Football Association dated August 24, 2022, inappropriately addressing the members of FKF and wish to give the following directions to all the FKF affiliated members as guided by the FKF 2017 constitution, CAF AND FIFA statutes.
“That Nairobi Football County Association are not members of FKF, neither are they affiliated to CAF nor FIFA and such they have no Locus Standi to issue any threats to FKF members or sanction any tournament in Nairobi,” part of the letter by FKF read.
In their letter, FKF noted that NCFA is not recognized by any of the international football bodies.
“That Nairobi Football County Association is a local entity created by the sports Act that is not a member of FKF, CAF, CECAFA nor FIFA and such none of their activities are recognized by the above-mentioned International football bodies in the world,” part of their statement read.
The statement stated that Nairobi County association have no mandate to deal with FKF members since they are not members.
“For those reasons NO FKF member should participate in the unsanctioned leagues, tournaments/activities purportedly organized by the so-called Nairobi Football County Association whose main intention is to cause confusion in Nairobi where there is none,” the letter read.
Currently, football matters in the country are being run by Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee was appointed by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed. The FKF Transition Committe is yet to clarify on the issue.
