
The Menengai Oilers Rugby club fraternity woke up to a rude shock on Sunday, September 4 after the demise of Antony Kibet, one of their players in the hands of unknown attackers.
According to Nation, Kibet who was in the company of two women and his friend Ibrahim Otieno was stabbed by unknown individuals on Saturday night at Pistis, a local area in Nakuru County.
The deceased, alongside his friends, were attacked by a group of three people when they were going to their homes after watching a football match at a local entertainment joint.

The assailants who were on a motorbike approached the four, injured the two men and vanished with their valuables. The women were left unhurt.
Peter Mwanzo, Nakuru County Police Commander confirmed the incident revealing that the criminals had crude weapons.
“The incident occurred at night. We have launched an investigation to establish where they were coming from, the men were armed with crude weapons but they managed to escape. We are on top of things and they will soon be arrested," stated Mwanzo.
Mwanzo further disclosed that the 28-year-old was stabbed on his abdomen by a crude weapon and died while being rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Menengai Oilers issued a statement stating that Kibet’s death has left the players and the entire staff shocked.
"The incident that happened yesterday has left both the club management and players baffled as the motive of the attack by the suspected thugs running on a motorcycle is yet to be known.
“The Police are investigating the attack and will release a full report in due course. The club will provide more information as soon as possible,” read a statement from the club.
The club added that Otieno, who was also stabbed during the attack, is stable and recuperating with the law enforcement officers.
