Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he will hang his boots if Federico Valverde fails to score 10 or more goals this season.
Speaking during a post-match press conference after Real Madrid's 2-0 win over RB Leipzig, Ancelotti disclosed that he told Valverde that he will have to tear up his coaching license if the 24-year-old fails to meet the target that has been set for him.
“I found it odd that he (Valverde) only got one goal last season. I told him if he wasn't capable of scoring at least 10 goals in a season, I'd have to rip up my coaching license and leave. He's showing confidence in his quality,” stated Ancelotti.

The 63-year-old added that Valverde is growing into a complete player, with his confidence and shooting ability improving.
Valverde opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 80th minute with a lovely strike before Spanish winger Marco Asensio added the second in the final moments of the match.
The Uruguayan international is one of the hottest prospects in the Los Blancos squad that also has the Brazilian duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Silva de Goes.
He provided an assist in the 2021/2022 UEFA Champions League final to help Real Madrid beat multiple English Premier League winners Liverpool FC 1-0 in a match played at Stade de France, in Paris.
Although Valverde has never scored more than three goals in a single season, he is currently enjoying fine form and has already netted three times despite making only eight appearances.
Real Madrid has played two Champions League group matches this season and registered wins in both of them.
Their next fixture will be against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
