
Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain played his last match on Monday, October 17, during the Major League Soccer playoffs.
Higuain was unable to help his team Inter Miami defeat the defending champion New York City in the Major League Soccer playoffs.
He also broke down in tears after the final whistle that saw them lose 3-0 to New York FC.

Higuain has had 17 years of success as a footballer and unfortunately bowed out without another trophy.
After the match, the 34-year-old noted that he was now beginning a new life after leaving his dream as a footballer.
The former Real Madrid striker had already announced that he would retire come to the end of the season.
“I felt like that what I loved I had ended... It has been half my life, a career of 17 years and images from throughout my entire career came into my mind. I am leaving very happy though because I gave it my all right up until today and that is the most important thing.
“Now a new stage of my life begins, I am leaving what I loved the most but having given my all my conscience is clean and I am going to enjoy what is coming next, my partner, my daughter, my family, my friends and I am looking forward to that,” Higuain stated.
Higuain has played for some of the top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Juventus, Napoli Chelsea.
He has won three Scuidettos as a player at Juventus and lifted the Europa league when he was on loan at Chelsea in 2019.
