One of the legends in football coaching, Tawahir Muhiddin, has nurtured some of Kenya's greatest talents over four decades. 

Muhiddin was born into a sporting family where his father played hockey and football. 

His passion for coaching began at the age of 13 when he stopped playing as he had to wear spectacles due to his poor eyesight.

While in school, he used to visit various libraries where he read coaching books from Europe where afterwards, he used to go and coach his local team. 

In 1989 he was called by the then called up together with Mohammed Kheri to the national team, where they helped the team qualify for the Mohammed Kheri. 

Both became the first pair of local coaches to qualify Harambee Stars for the prestigious continental tournament. 

Years later, Kheri recommended him to Mombasa Wanderers FC officials, who sent Muhiddin to Brazil in 1997 for a coaching course. 

The 63-year-old coached Harambee Stars as a head coach in 1997 when he took over when the late Reinhard Fabisch was suspended by Football Kenya Federation (FKF). 

His game style is from different countries Germany, Brazil, Holland, England and France. 

Muhiddin has been a coach for 44 years, having coached Kenyan clubs like Ulinzi Stars, Bandari FC, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. 

The legend describes himself as a ‘hard-to-please coach’ who loves perfection. In football circles, he is also referred to as ‘Sheik’. 

In a past interview, the 63-year-old noted that he spends close to 10 hours on his computer referring to old notes and looking for current coaching trends. 

Currently, Twahir Muhiddin, serves as the technical director of FKF Premier League side Bandari FC.
