Besides their first win, Kenya 7s had registered draws in two matches at the Dubai tournament.

The team began the Dubai 7s campaign with a draw against Australia before suffering a defeat from South Africa.

In their last Pool A match, Shujaa registered another draw, with Great Britain finishing at the bottom of their group with five points.

Shujaa will face Fiji in the 9th-place semifinals on Saturday, December 3, at 12:16 pm East African Time (EAT).

Fiji knocked out Uganda in the first quarter-final match after registering a  29 – 14 win.

Shujaa's win came despite their earlier revelation that they had gone three months without pay.

The team was compelled to launch a fund drive to raise money to cater to the players' needs as they represent the country.

So far, well-wishers have raised over  Ksh466,346.
