Qatar has begun dismantling Stadium 947, specifically built for the FIFA World Cup.

Out of the seven facilities, the stadium will be fully brought down after hosting the final match between Brazil and South Korea on Monday, December 5.

974 containers were used to build the stadium, with a capacity of 44,089, making it the world’s first transportable stadium.

Stadium 974 is also the only venue constructed for the World Cup that is not air-conditioned.

After being dismantled, the various parts will be shipped to countries needing infrastructure uplift.

However, specific locations where the dismounted stadium will go after the tournament have yet to be established.

According to the organisers, after the tournament concludes, many will have several seats removed in the other six stadiums.

The stadium has hosted only evening matches when temperatures are cooler.

The tournament is still underway, with six teams already securing a spot in the quarter-finals set to take place between Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10.

Morocco will play Spain, while Portugal will take on Switzerland for a place in the last eight on Tuesday, December 6.
