“Former Harambee Stars midfielder and AFC Leopards SC captain Martin Imbalambala graduated on Friday from the Kenya Society for the Blind (KSB) in Nairobi, Kenya.
“Imbalambala joined the school earlier in 2022 after an ordeal in 2018 which left him blind, cutting short his glamorous career in football.
“Following his graduation, the former midfield maestro will be joining the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) as part of its secretariat, with some of the key roles including representing the welfare of People With Disabilities (PWDs),” read part of the statement from KEFWA.
Speaking after his graduation ceremony, the 34-year-old thanked everyone who made it possible.
“This is a very great day for me and my family. I am happy to graduate today because this journey has been long and tough.
“I thank God, my wife and friends who have supported me through,” Imbalambala stated.
Dan Makori, KEFWA education officer backed the player, who also had stints with Vihiga Queens and Nakumatt FC, to succeed in his new role.
“Martin Imbalambala’s potential is very big. He will be joining the KEFWA secretariat and of course, some of the key areas he will be playing part in is representing the welfare of our members with disabilities.
“Also with his inspirational journey, we will be having him in our mentorship and capacity-building programs,” ended Makori.
