Footballers, particularly those who play for top European clubs, are among the highest-paid individuals in the universe.

Some like Senegalese striker Sadio Mane choose to uplift the lives of their communities, while others purchase luxurious cars, and apartments.

Argentine forward Lionel Messi is among the few footballers who purchase classy valuables with their money and at the same time invest in projects that improve the living conditions of the less fortunate in society.

Team Kenya takes a look inside Messi’s Gulfstream GV jet which is valued at an estimated prize of $ 15 million (approximately Ksh 1,800,000,000).

Messi's private jet is 29m long, 28m wide and eight metres high and it was manufactured in the United States in 2002.

The Gulfstream V private jet was bought for just over 15 million dollars at the end of 2018.

The plane has 16 passenger seats which can be converted into eight beds at any time.

It also has a state-of-the-art kitchen, an elegant bathroom, and televisions. Messi’s family and friends can take advantage of these facilities to eat and entertain themselves as they travel.

Moreover, it has a customised image of the Paris Saint Germain forward. The famous number 10 which he has worn for a bigger part of his career is printed on the tail of the jet.

The name of the La Masia Academy graduate, those of his wife Antonela Roccuzzo, and his three kids Mateo, Ciro, and Thiago have also been inscribed on it.

Messi, who enjoyed a successful spell with FC Barcelona, sometimes rents the Jet. This allows him to save millions of money in management and maintenance costs.

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis and for safety reasons, in December 2022 Lionel Messi availed his private jet to be used by his Argentina teammates who ply their trade in Europe.

Messi shared the aircraft with the likes of Marcos Acuna, Lucas Ocampos, Paulo Dybala, Nicolas Otamendi and Juan Foyth.
