South African rugby captain Siya Kolisi confirmed on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, that he would be joining French side Racing 92 after the 2023 World Cup.

Kolisi took to social media to announce the news, describing it as a golden opportunity to transform his life.

“Not many athletes get the chance to write the chapters of their respective stories, and I view this chance in France as an opportunity to do this.

“Indeed, it has been an incredible collaborative effort between the Sharks and Racing 92 that has enabled me to start a new chapter in my career after the 2023 Rugby World Cup,” read part of his statement.

The 31-year-old added that the move would not affect his commitment to the Kolisi Foundation.

"It should also be stated that although I will be spending time in France, Rachel and I will continue to be as involved as ever with the Kolisi Foundation and have a presence in South Africa.

"Our beautiful country will always be home for us, and we look forward to returning after this chapter," ended Kolisi.

Kolisi joined the Sharks in 2021 and was an influential member of their squad.

The powerful player, who thrives as a flanker, became the first black player to captain the South African national team in 2018.

In 2019, he guided the Springboks to the Rugby World Cup triumph, overcoming England in the final.
