On Thursday, January 5, 2023, Kenya Premier League side AFC Leopards revealed that they have settled for kit manufacturer Umbro to supply their jerseys.

According to the press release issued by the club, the deal is expected to cost approximately Ksh5.9 million.

“This is to confirm that the team's preparations have resumed and that it's adequately equipped to deliver a successful football season.

“As part of the process to achieve this success, the NEC collectively picked Umbro as this season's kit supplier after a comprehensive selection process.

“This was advantageous because it resulted in a lower price of about Ksh1,977 ($16) per replica, for 3000 units, as opposed to the Ksh2,163 ($17.50) previously presented by our proposed agent,” part of the statement from Ingwe read.

To sweeten the deal, Umbro gave the multiple KPL champions extra goods including caps and sneakers.

The club also divulged that they have received the majority of the merchandise, with the exception of the warm-up and training kits.

AFC Leopards further disclosed that the payment would be wired directly to Umbro rather than via the agent's account.

The club also thanked fans for their overwhelming support throughout the years.

"Above all, we also take this opportunity to pay tribute to our members and fans for your continued support.

"We hope our team helped put a smile on your face during an otherwise tough 2022. We are looking forward so much to seeing you again soon. May you have a prosperous New Year," the statement ended.
