“With the President, we reached an agreement for an extension until 2026. I thank the president. In Qatar, we were very close to obtaining what we wanted, the title of world champion.

“There were a lot of positive things. I want to thank the technical staff, the whole staff. It means a lot of things,” Deschamps stated.

Deschamps was appointed on July 9, 2012, and has led France in 139 matches winning 89 games, losing 22 and drawing 28 times.

His technical bench consisting of Guy Stéphan (assistant), Franck Raviot (goalkeeper coach) and Cyril Moine (physical trainer) will also continue their roles for the Blues until 2026.

Under his leadership, France has reached two consecutive World Cup finals winning one in 2018.
