
Chief Executive Officer of the INEOS Jim Ratcliffe has declared his interest in the purchase of Premier League side Manchester United.
The Glazer family, United's current owners, announced in November 2022 that they were willing to listen to offers for the club after a 17-year reign dominated by fan protests and declining on-pitch performance.
Ratcliffe's chemical firm is the first to come public and formally declare an interest in purchasing the Red Devils.

"We have formally put ourselves into the process," a spokesperson stated.
Ratcliffe has never hidden his interest in buying United having been a fan for a long time.
The 70-year-old British billionaire was among the bidders for Chelsea when Roman Abramovic was selling the club.
He also owns the cycling team INEOS Grenadiers, Ligue 1 side Nice, and a Swiss Super League club called FC Lausanne-Sport.
In a statement made by the club on November 23, 2022, Manchester United indicated that its Board had commenced the process of exploring strategic alternatives for the club.
United announced that the club was looking for viable options to grow the club which included the possibility of selling it altogether.
The Red Devils are currently sitting fourth on the Premier League table after 18 matches with 38 points, 9 behind league leaders Arsenal.
