Racing sensation Hamza Anwar and his co-driver Adnan Din are set to make their maiden appearance at the 2023 International Automobile Federation (FIA) World Rally Championship.

According to Safari Rally Kenya, the two stars will be the only participants from the African continent.

“A talented cohort of upcoming Junior rally drivers are poised to make their FIA Junior WRC debut this season.

“Kenya and Africa at large are well represented by African Junior Rally Champions, 24-year-old Hamza Anwar and co-driver Adnan Din,” the statement read.

The 2023 WRC calendar for the juniors comprises five extremely challenging rally rounds.

Sweden is set to host the first round, while Croatia will stage the second. Competitors will then battle each other in Italy's gruelling gravel before proceeding to Estonia and Greece for the final rounds.

The world rally governing body stated that the overall champion would be rewarded handsomely.

"Up for grabs is a life-changing prize consisting of arrive and drive outings on four European WRC rounds in 2024 with an M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally2 car (the next step up from Rally3), plus a tyre support package courtesy of Pirelli.

"The eventual champion will also get the chance to test on the Monday prior to each event to gain more experience," read part of the statement from FIA.

Earlier this month, FIA disclosed that all the drivers, who are expected to participate in this year's championship would use identical cars manufactured by a Polish firm.

Hamza, who is the child of the veteran driver Asad Anwar, is one of the most promising talents in the country currently.

He made his Safari Rally debut during the 2021 edition using a Fiesta Rally3 vehicle.
