A tough point earned away in Nzoia was unexpected but Frank Ouna’s juggernaut at Mathare United seems to be gathering pace ahead of their rescheduled FKF Premier League match against AFC Leopards at Ruaraka Grounds on Thursday.
Ouna who will be handling his third match as the head coach at one of the most organized Football clubs in the country says his players have developed a new sense of belief and they will approach the game Ingwe with confidence.
Rooted at the bottom of the league standings, the 2008 Kenya champions sense prey over an Ingwe side that has been struggling against sides in the bottom half of the league table.
Speaking ahead of the match, Ouna says his charges are ready for the fight at a ground Ingwe’s head coach Patrick Aussems called “the worst he has ever seen in his professional life.”
“We got a point against Nzoia, now let’s aim for all three against Leopards”
Victory over Leopards will take the Slum Boys within a point of safety depending on others results.
“We are in a position where we cannot afford to drop any more points,” Ouna said.
“The fact that we are going up against a team fighting on the opposite end to us should not deter us but rather push us towards getting a monumental result that can be the basis of our rise.”

“So let’s maintain the spirit that was on display in Bungoma and work towards the win tomorrow,” he said.
Mathare drew 1-1 with Nzoia at the Sudi Stadium with Ingwe who are aiming for the title held to a barren draw with Stanley Okumbi’s Posta Rangers on Saturday.
