
Several former Kenyan internationals were shortlisted for the Chief Administrative Secretary position by the Public Service Commission (PSC) on Monday, February 20, 2023.
Ex-Harambee Stars midfielder MacDonald Mariga Wanyama is the most popular sportsperson on the list, dominated by President William Ruto's allies and Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition rebels.
Mariga, one of the most successful Kenyan sportspersons, ventured into politics after retiring from professional football.

The former Inter Milan star has unsuccessfully vied for the Kibra Constituency seat.
Former Cherangany Constituency legislator Wesley Kipchumba Korir is another lucky sports legend who has been considered for the CAS job.
The two-time Los Angeles Marathon winner thanked God for the chance to serve Kenyans.
"Thanks a lot. May the will of God be done," his statement read.
Apart from the duo, Lindah Oguttu, who served in the FKF caretaker committee disbanded in 2022, has also been shortlisted.
The one-time KTN news anchor took to social media to request Kenyans to pray for her to land the opportunity to serve the millions of Kenyans.
"When you wake up, you will see this list. I am asking all of us to love each other as Kenyans.
“Please, wake up in the morning, take tea and pray for me. In life, it is essential to pray for each other," she ended.
According to the PSC, the interviews for the shortlisted candidates will begin on Wednesday, March 1.
Any public member with credible information of interest regarding the shortlisted candidates is invited to provide it to the PSC before Tuesday, February 28.
