Derrick Otanga believes that his side have what it takes to push the FKF Premier League title to the wire.

KCB are top of the chart with 36 points and face an out of form Sofapaka on Sunday in what will be the weekend highlight game.

With AFC Leopards hot on their heels, the bankers will be going all out for a win as they seek to remain at the top of the league standings. Ingwe beat bottom side Mathare United 1-0 on Thursday  to go level on points with KCB but an inferior goal difference means they remain second on the log.

But Otanga warns they cannot afford to slip as the race is wide open. Sofapaka have lost back to back premier league matches and nothing short of a good result will help them escape from the danger zone.

“We have a good team and currently, we are in good form. We are on a mission and we have a target to achieve thus we have to continue with the fine run because it’s not a done job yet.”

“ The match against Sofapaka looks easy on paper being that they are out of form but we respect them because they are a good side despite their current poor run.  Nonetheless, we will take advantage of their current troubles and go for the win,” he said.

“There has to be pressure because there is no going down now but for us, we are focusing on a game at a time and not in the position we are in.”

The former Wazito and Sony Sugar man has been scoring vital goals of late and this has given him confidence at a very crucial stage of the congested season.

“A striker’s job is to score goals and when you don’t your confidence drops too. The last two games have been good for me being on the scoresheet and more importantly scoring match-winning goals. I feel my confidence level is getting back and am only hoping to keep scoring in each game.”
