
Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) men’s Player of the Year as well as the Young Player of the Year award.
The 21 year old Man City Star has made 50 appearances for the Cityzens across all competitions this season, aiding Guardiola’s side to win the Premier League and League Cup while they also reached the Champions League final where they finished runners-up.
City dominate the six-man shortlist after an outstanding season that saw them win the Premier league .The award consists of last year’s winner Kevin de Bruyne, Ruben Dias and Ilkay Gundogan also in contention.
Manchester United midfielder and top goal-scorer Bruno Fernandes plus Golden Boot winner Harry Kane, who topped the league with 23 goals and 14 assists, complete the list of nominees .
The PFA Young Player of the Year is for players under the age of 23, though they are also eligible for the senior award. Only three players have won both PFA awards in the same season since they were introduced in the 1973-74 season ,Andy Gray in 1976-77, Cristiano Ronaldo in 2006-07 and Gareth Bale in 2012-13.
Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, West Ham's Declan Rice, Manchester United's Mason Greenwood, Chelsea's Mason Mount and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold are also in contention for the young player prize.
The winners of the awards are set to be announced on Sunday, June 6 as all eyes are on the young England international who would match Cristiano Ronaldo's record of winning both Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
