AFC Leopards midfielder Collins Shichenje is eager to help his team earn silverware this season.
The 21-year-old scored the only goal for Ingwe as they sailed through to the FKF Cup round of 16 after seeing off Posta Rangers in Thika.
A low powerdive off the bottom corner was enough to settle the Thika affair in what was potentially a tough match for the 2017 champions.
The lanky midfielder, returning from suspension, took command of the midfield and his presence was clearly felt when he made those bursting runs in midfield and finally earning his debut goal as an AFC Leopards player.
The former Green Commandos captain has been the talk of town in recent times with reports linking him to Greek side PAOK.
However, the Emerging Stars midfielder says that he wants to see off the job at hand before thinking on the next move.
“At the moment everything is fine, we are focusing on earning silverware for the club and qualifying for continental assignments next season.” he told TeamKenya.
A late red card against Mathare United meant that Shichenje was dearly missed as the title chasing Ingwe were humbled 3-1 at home by Bidco United but on his return, the team looked like a complete unit with him on the scoresheet.
“I feel elated after scoring my first goal for the club, I have really been pushing for this and I think I deserve it.”
“As a club we know that we have to keep pushing in order to stay up there, we have the ability,” he said.
“I felt really great because it was my first goal for the club and I have been really working hard to score, I think I deserved it,”
