A 1-0 win over KCB revived Sofapaka’s hunt for a Top 8 finish. The former Kenya Premier League champions have found it difficult to get the much-needed results and there is a need to change their fortunes according to forward Pistone Mutamba.
Batoto ba Mungu are currently on 22 points in the FKF Premier League and were recently bundled out of the FKF Cup by Ulinzi Stars, it can’t just get worse according to Mutamba.
Pistone Mutamba has attributed the poor run to rebuilding and transition which he says has contributed to their struggles in the league.
“The team is entirely new, we have around six players from the previous season, and this is what's affecting us currently. The team signed quality players capable of performing but for a group that hasn’t stayed compact for a given period results won’t come as quickly as we expect.
” It takes time and patience is needed. We are currently on a transition, we got to gel and once we get compact then results will flow,” he explained.
The former Bidco United and Wazito forward says he’s not under pressure having not found the back of the net yet.
“As a forward your main work is to score goals. However, since rejoining the team it has not been easy for me. It is a challenge and a concern but I am not worried because this is a new team and we are getting to understand each other.
“I believe it is just a matter of time before we get the rhythm and the goals will come.”
“It has been a torrid path for us, now we want to focus on getting off the midtable place then fight to finish among the five best because we are a big team.”
Sofapaka will next take on AFC Leopards when the league resumes on June 16.
