It is hard to track the fitness records of athletes but thank God for technology, coaches and physical trainers can now keep track of their stars.
Many clubs and athletes in the country have resorted to home based training to keep their fitness levels high.
19 time Kenyan champions Gor Mahia started the season on a low but a 3-1 win over Bidco on matchday 16 confirmed they were back on track but then the league was halted once again.
Suspension of all sporting activities were among the new tough measures issued by the Government to help curb the rapid spread of the virus and K’Ogalo had just to find a solution to this.
Assistant coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo says they have resorted to using training apps to help the players train alone while in self isolation.
Pamzo says they have a daily routine that must be followed in order to keep fit. The Gor Mahia legend has also revealed that any players who don’t submit their reports on time or even miss the sessions are hit with a fine, insisting that the sessions are as important as normal training sessions.
“The pandemic has really mess us up but we must find solutions to the problems we are facing,” he said.
“Every player should have the Adidas Running App. This is the most trusted app at the moment and each day, two to three players will be chosen randomly to share their running track record. During workout days, be it cardio or strength, the players are requested to send short clips to the club’s whatsapp group,’ he added.
With the 2020-21 FKF Premier League campaign still hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, all players and staff are being forced to practice self-isolation at home in accordance with new government legislation. However, there is no room or margin for error.
“Any player who doesn't follow the instructions give is definitely going to be fined,” he quipps.
