Tusker FC have advanced to the next round of the CAF Champions League after beating Arta Solar7 3-0 in CAF Champions League Preliminary round second leg match played on Saturday 18th September 2021 at Nyayo Stadium.
Having drawn 1-1 in Djibouti a week ago, the Kenya champions needed a goalless draw or a win of any kind but they made sure that they got the job done with two quick fire goals in the first half and one more later on in the second half.
Shami Kibwana , Ibrahim Joshua and Deogracious Ojok were on the score sheet in 8th, 25th and 75 minutes as Tusker cruised control of the one sided encounter.
Arta Solar settled in quickly controlling the game but a reckless challenge by former Arsenal man Alex Song on Tusker forward Ibrahim Joshua granted the hosts an opportunity to take the lead from the spot and new boy Shami Kibwana did not disappoint as he dispatched the spot-kick for a 1-0 lead.
The visitors soon gathered themselves and former Westham star Diafra Sakho’s effort was ruled offside.
Joshua then doubled the lead in the 25th minute when he rose highest to nod home the second off a Jackson Macharia corner and the Brewers would take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Deogracious Ojok scored Tusker’s third 15 minutes to time to settle the contest.
Tusker will now meet Zamalek in the second and final qualification round of qualifiers with the first leg expected to be played in Nairobi in mid-october.
