FKF Cup champions Gor Mahia begin their CAF Confederations Cup campaign against Al Ahly Merowe of Sudan in the second preliminary round next month it has been confirmed.

The record Kenya champions were given a direct ticket to the second round of the annual tourney due to their pedigree on the continental scene.

Al Ahly beat Atlabara of South Sudan to set a date with K’Ogalo on October 15.

The Sudanese side beat Atlabara 4-0 on aggregate to set up what potentially looks like an explosive fixture.

The first leg of the tie will be played at the Al-Ubayyid stadium on October 15 with the second leg scheduled to be played a week later at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

Gor Mahia beat AFC Leopards in the FKF Cup final to book the continental ticket.

Financial turmoil, exodus of key players and a FIFA ban that was lifted a few weeks ago has affected Gor Mahia’s preseason and they will be hoping that this does not affect them as the new season kicks off.
