
The Kenya U20 Women’s National team, Rising Starlets, is scheduled to face Uganda in the second round of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women World Cup Qualifiers. The first leg is slated for September 25 at 3 pm at Nyayo National Stadium with the return leg on October 8, 2021, in Uganda. National team coach Charles Okere said the qualifiers will offer a perfect opportunity for the technical bench to assess the players with a view to promoting them to the Starlets squad.
"It is the best opportunity for us to see what we have at the youth level. We will try to incorporate young players whose future is to transition to the senior team. Our target is to make it to the World Cup and we are optimistic Harambee Starlets can savour their chance and make a historic appearance to the quadrennial event," Okere said.
Uganda is set to jet into the country on Thursday morning ahead of the game on Saturday.The winner of the tie on aggregate will face the winner of the second-round tie pitting Mozambique against South Africa. The squad of 30 players includes a blend of some players with top-tier football experience as well as high school footballers with Wiyeta Girls and Madira Girls featuring notably.
