Tusker beat Gor Mahia in dramatic shoot-out to win Super Cup

FKF Premier League champions Tusker on Wednesday edged Gor Mahia 8-7 on post-match penalties to win the Football Kenya Federation Super Cup played at the Thika sub-county stadium. 

Both sides had settled for a 1-1 draw in regulation time before the brewers claimed victory in a dramatic shoot-out through Carlos Kirenge. 

Gor Mahia took the lead in the 54th minute of the game when Samuel Onyango converted from the spot after Brian Bwire fouled Benson Omalla in the area. Tusker responded swiftly when they also earned a penalty of their own, this time Boniface Muchiri getting fouled and Tanzania import Ibrahim Joshua converting. 

In the shootout, Tusker’s Goalkeeper Brian Bwire saved a penalty kick from Gor Mahia’s Ernest Wendo that gave Tusker a chance to win through Kalos Kirenge goal.

Sydney Ochieng, Dennis Ng'ang'a,  Frank Odhiambo, Sando Sando Yangayayah, Philemon Otieno, Benson Omala and Gad Mathews converted for Gor Mahia while Alpha Onyango, Fred Nkata and Ernest Wendo missed. 

Tusker's Monyi and  Humphrey Mieno missed their penalties as Daniel Sakari, Boniface Muchiri, Joshua Ibrahim, Clyde Senaji, Christopher Orchum, Brian Bwire, Jimmy Mbugua and Kalos Kirenge all scored.
