The Commonwealth super lightweight title is up for grabs on Saturday as Sarah Achieng of Kenya battles against Ruth Chisale of Malawi at Charter Hall, Nairobi.
Achieng (13-2, 7KOs) has been training hard for the fight and will come up against Malawian soldier Ruth Chisale aka Black Chocolate (10-1, 6KOs) who has also promised a good bout. Chisale arrived in the country on Thursday night, just in time for the showpiece that has been promoted by betting firm 22Bet.
Achieng who boasts a good home record hopes to see the job done against the fearless soldier.
"I can't just wait for the big day, I'm ready for the Malawian opponent to show her why I'm nicknamed the Angel of War," said Achieng,
"I've trained well under my coach and mentor Afred Analo aka Irie Priest, I want this belt now," says Achieng who'll be fighting for her biggest ever payday.
"Pro boxing doesn't pay much especially for women boxers," explains Achieng on the purse she earns in professional boxing.
"You can't even invest in the money we earn, it's just for our stomach. Had it not been for Boxgirls who pay me a monthly salary, life would have been so miserable."
The title fight, which has been sanctioned by the Commonwealth Boxing Council and Kenya Professional Boxing Commission, will be supported by seven bouts featuring Kenyan boxers and two Tanzanians. The show starts at 2pm
Achieng's coach Analo who is a reggae musician says: "Jah bless Sarah, she's as fit as fiddle, the belt is ours."
