World Marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has entered into a partnership with Abbott Laboratories, a health care company to track his glucose levels during training.
The company specializes in cardiovascular, diagnostics, diabetes and neuromodulation products and is also well-known for its pediatric and adult nutrition brands including Pedialyte, Ensure, Glucerna and Similac.
The partnership will see the company monitor the athlete’s glucose levels and help him achieve optimal athletics performance.
Kipchoge who is currently training for the NN Mission Marathon, will use the Abbotts’s biocensor in Enschede, Netherlands on Sunday April 18 during the NN Mission Marathon.
“I am honored to announce a life changing partnership with Abbott. Using Abbott’s Libre Sense has transformed my training program. I am learning how my glucose levels relate to my running performance and have already started to see how quickly small adjustments can make a big difference,” Kipchoge said.
“This innovation will hopefully help runners around the world to better understand the relationship between nutrition and performance to help them improve.”
Built upon the company’s world-leading continuous glucose monitoring technology, Abbott’s Libre Sense is the world’s first glucose biosensor designed for athletes to help sports performance.
