The past few weeks of being in the limelight has resulted in a series of mixed reactions for Kenyan star sprinter as he won the race but lost a slot to represent Kenya at the olympics.
Despite setting a record of being the fastest Kenyan in the 100m race after clocking a record time of 10.1 secs in Nigeria, Athletics Kenya (AK)still denied to recognise his efforts and gave him a slot in the Olympics competition where he would represent the country.
The sensational sprinter has had his own fair share of challenges in his athletics career before the recent one in Nigeria. This was after the 25-year-old sprinter served a 14-month ban back in 2017 after being found guilty of using a prohibited substance by the Kenya Anti-doping Agency (Adak) costing him significant time pursuing his career as he was sidelined.
The sprint star who is in the cloud nine of his career however is determined to prove a point in the athletic world as he continues with the high intensity training sessions that would aid him in the upcoming track events.
The Kenyan athlete has showcased the fighting spirit in his craft and therefore seeks a second chance from Athletics Kenya where he would redeem himself. He as well continues to attract sponsorships from different entities that are into sporting activities.
Omanyala is currently settling for an appeal through his lawyer Sarah Ochwada which would see him participate at the Summer olympic games in Tokyo this year. However if all fails the athlete might be looking up to other options which include heading to the Olympics as an independent athlete.
Athletics Kenya rejected Omanyala's 10.01 record after receiving a letter from the Director-General of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) claiming that the 3rd Making of Champions Grand Prix held on March 30 and 31 was not sanctioned by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
However, the organisers of the event, in a statement, disclosed that they have been in partnership with the Nigerian Federation since the first edition of the event in 2018.
Despite such a disappointing turn of events for Omanyala, the Kenyan Sprinter is still focused in achieving his goal which is to represent the nation at the international level and leave a mark at the racing tracks.
