The difficult part of the premier league season is during December with teams playing matches after a very short break span.

In Wednesday's headline clash Arsenal, who stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of his captaincy on Tuesday, snatched West Ham's Champions League spot with a comfortable victory.

TeamKenya gives you a breakdown of the actions that took place on Wednesday night.

Arsenal Vs West Ham United

Arsenal grabbed a win 2-0 against West Ham at the Emirate stadium moving into the top four of the premier league.

Second half goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe put arsenal at a Champions League spot. The last day Arsenal was in the top four was October 16, 2020.

However, Arsenal missed a penalty after Lacazette’s penalty kick was saved by Fabianski. Arsenal have now failed to convert three consecutive penalties in the Premier League for the first time since August 1992.

Arsenal's next match will be against  Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, December 18, while West Ham will host struggling Norwich City on the same day.

Burnley Vs Watford

The Premier League clash between Burnley and Watford at Turf Moor was postponed following a coronavirus outbreak in the visiting side’s ranks.

The league announced the decision just two and a half hours before the scheduled start time.

This was the second delayed contest of the midweek schedule in England’s top flight after Manchester United’s trip to Brentford was called off earlier this week.

Crystal Palace Vs Southampton

Southampton came from behind but could not hold on against Crystal Palace as Jordan Ayew’s first goal of the season meant the points were shared.

The Eagles goals came from Wilfred Zaha and Jordan Ayew as Armando Broja and James Ward-Prowse netted for the Saints

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side also claimed an unwanted record as the first top-flight side to ship more than 50 away goals in a single year since West Brom in 1985.

Brighton and Hove Albion Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Brighton and Hove Albion succumbed to yet another defeat against Wolves in the other clash of the day.

Wolves goal by Romain Saiss in the  dying minutes of the first half secured wolves a 1-0 win against Brighton.

Wolves ended their poor run playing five games consecutively without a goal for the first time since 2003.

Brighton are without a win in any competition since September when they beat Swansea in the League Cup.

They are now 11 games without a win in the Premier League making it their longest wait for a top-flight victory in the club’s history.
