Barcelona and Real Madrid return to action with a trip to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final on January 12.
This is the first time Barça and Madrid face off in this new format of the Supercopa, with the winner going up against either Athletic Bilbao or Atlético Madrid in the final on Sunday, January 16.
The Super Cup is undoubtedly the least important competition in the calendar, but the fact that it is El Clásico changes things for everyone involved.
Barcelona have improved enough after former player Xavi took over, TeamKenya takes a look at the potential debutants in the El Clásico.
Ferran Torres
The latest signing is still waiting to be declared fit but he made his way on Tuesday to training along with Pedri.
The newly signed player has been training with the squad but is yet to make his debut but is expected to make both his Barcelona and El Classico debut against Real Madrid.
The winger, who moved from Manchester City to Barcelona in a 65 million euros transfer, has been cleared to make his debut for the Spanish giant against Real Madrid.
The Spain international has taken over the No.19 jersey from Sergio Aguero, who retired from international football in December last year due to a heart condition.
Nico González
The midfield player is one of the youngsters that have the confidence of Xavi with the 20-year-old midfielder making his debut on August 15, 2021, against Real Sociedad.
Since he has become a first-team regular, he has played 1,250 minutes, scoring two goals and having two assists.
Although he did not play the previous match against Real Madrid, he is likely to be named in the team this time.
Ez Abde
Signed from Elche in the summer, Abde has been one of Barcelona's success stories so far. He made his debut under Sergi Barjuan against Alavés on October 30, 2021.
Abde has become a popular choice for Xavi since taking charge, playing 510 minutes and scoring one goal.
Abde is one of the players that is looking for a starting place in the first team and is believed to be a vital player for Barcelona in the second half of the season.
Riqui Puig
Riqui Puig made his first-team debut in December 2018 in a Copa del Rey yet he is still to be involved in a Clásico against Real Madrid.
Puig joined Barcelona at the age of 14 years and has moved through all of the Club's youth categories.
The midfielder has started two of the last three games under new coach Xavi Hernández and has played a total of 355 minutes so far this season.
Álvaro Sanz
Part of the FC Barcelona youth setup since 2015, he made his debut as a sub against Mallorca on January 2, 2022.
Despite the intense competition in the midfield, the midfield player has proved to be a force to reckon with.
The midfielder has perfectly fitted in the FC Barcelona system and after 43 minutes of first-team play he is certainly an option for the Super Cup
