On Tuesday, February 1, FKF Caretaker Committee secretariat member Rishad Shedu, faulted Barry Otieno over his controversial letter addressed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

According to Shedu the embattled FKF CEO Barry Otieno is to be blamed if Harambee Starlets miss the African Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers.

Shedu, while attending one of the training sessions, noted that Barry wrote the letter without consulting the Caretaker committee.

“If the Starlets miss this chance, it will be on him, as he is the author of the letter and he did not reach out to us.

“The fact is that he is aware that we are the body mandated to run football in the country, so even if he was the one CAF communicated to then he should have consulted with us before replying,” Shedu pointed out.

He castigated the embattled FKF CEO for dragging politics into the Starlets game, especially with the young girls keen to shine and showcase their talent.

“One should not put politics in such a matter, this is someone's livelihood. At the moment we are pushing women's football which has been neglected for a long time.

"In that brief time, we have seen the players we have produced, and through this tournament, we were looking forward to around five or more players attracting foreign clubs,” Shedu added.

The secretariat member noted that there was communication between the Caretaker committee and CAF adding that a decision will be made before the current men's tournament, AFCON concludes.
