Egyptian tycoon Hisham Talaat Moustafa has promised a KSh72 Million to the Pharaohs, should they beat Senegal in tonight’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final.
This is over and above what the Egyptian Football Association shall remit to the team from the prize money they shall receive from the Confederations of African Football (CAF).
The real estate mogul, who is a majority shareholder in Talaat Moustafa Group, made the promise in a phone call to Egypt’s Minister of Sports Ashraf Sobhi.
Sobhi travelled to Cameroon today for the final, as revealed by the Egyptian Sports Ministry’s website.
CAF has allocated about KSh570 Million to the winner of the competition while the runners up will pocket slightly over KSh310 Million.
The money is remitted to the winning Federation, which then disburses winnings to players.
Back home, Harambee Stars players who featured in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt took home KSh 750,000 each.

This was over and above a KSh50 Million delivered by Deputy President William Ruto, which they shared equitably.
The share was in accordance with the number of qualifying matches the players played in the run-up to the main competition.
Egypt, meanwhile, will be without head coach Carlos Queiroz and his assistant Roger de SA for the final. They were suspended for their unsporting antics in their semi-final match against Cameroon.
The match will highlight a top tier battle for supremacy between English Premier League stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah
