A majority of the athletes hail from the Rift Valley, notably Uasin Gishu County.

Brigid Kosgei
In 2019 Brigid Kosgei set a new world record in the women's marathon after clocking 2:14:4.
She started competing in middle-distance races while at school but could not represent Kenya at that time.
In January 2012, she dropped out of school after lacking school fees and dived fully into athletics where she found success.
The 28-year-old is also a one-time Olympic Games Silver medalist.
Vivian Cheruiyot
Vivian Cheruiyot is one of Kenya's most decorated athletes with various accolades to her name.
The 38-year-old is a one time Olympic Games Gold medalist and also a four-time World Championships Gold medallist.
She is also a two-time Olympic Games Silver medalist and a one-time Olympic Games Bronze medalist.
Wilson Kipsang
Wilson Kipsang is a legend in athletics. Kipsang is a former marathon world record holder and a one-time Olympic Games Bronze medalist.
Ezekiel Kemboi:
The renowned 3000m steeplechase champion is renowned for his famous victory dance.
Kemboi is a four-time world 3000m steeplechase champion and double-Olympic gold medalist.
He is also a one-time World Athletics Final Gold medalist and a three World Championships Silver medalist.
Saif Saeed Shaheen
Saif Saeed Shaheen changes his name from Stephen Cherono after switching his citizenship from Kenya to Qatar.
He is the 3000m steeplechase recorder and two-time World Championships Gold medalist.
He also has one World Indoor Championships Silver medal and two World Athletics Final Gold medals.
Lornah Kiplagat
Kenyan born athlete Lorna Kiplagat hails from Kabiemit, Uasin Gishu. She switched her citizenship to Dutch in 2003.
The 47 years old is a decorated athlete having won the World Cross Country Championship and a three World Half Marathon Championship Gold medalist.
