Kipchoge Keino is the only Kenyan athlete inducted as a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Hall of Fame.
In 2012, he was among the first IAAF Hall of Fame inductees. Kip Keino, despite not being Kenya's first Olympic gold medalist, still remains the country's most famous athlete.
Before Keino set his first World Record, he had competed at two tournaments, the 1962 Commonwealth Games and the 1964 Olympic Games.

The legendary athlete at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, competed in six distance races in eight days despite suffering severe abdominal pains.
Keino never shied off from new challenges as at the 1972 Olympic Games, he entered the 3000m Steeplechase, something he had never tried before.
At the 1972 Games, Keino bagged a silver medal in the 1,500 metres and a gold medal in the 3,000-metres steeplechase.
Keino, who retired from international competition in 1975, has since become a member of the International Olympic Committee.
The legendary athlete is still involved in Kenyan athletics affairs and has since built schools, an orphanage and an elite training facility for athletes.
