As McRae prepared for his latest challenge, he noted that the Swedish experience was quite challenging as it was his first time ever to drive on snow.

Kimathi has participated in various rally championships but has never had an experience in driving on ground covered with snow.

"It is the first time I am seeing snow in my entire life and also the first time I am racing on snow. It is an interesting experience.

“It is really an eye-opener because it is not as slippery as you would think. There is so much grip and you can slide the car for even 10 to 20 metres,” McRae stated.

The 27 year old has stated that he would push himself to achieve good results at the Sweden event amid the pressure that comes with his father being one of the biggest rally drivers ever in the country.

The rally driver has also received advice from Priority One WRC driver Craig Breen on how to control a car in snow.

“It does what you tell it. Just relax and follow your instincts,” Craig Breen advised McRae.

The Africa R3 champion when he is not participating in the rally he  works as an accountant for San Valencia Ltd, a hospitality company based in Lavington, Nairobi.
