Gabriel Mutuku Nding’ai: The Founder of The National Police Karate Team

Gabriel Mutuku Nding’ai, a Police Constable, is a celebrated Kenyan Karate coach who is also a holder of a Black Belt.

The Police Constable is the founder of the National Police Karate Team and currently stationed at the Sports Office at the Kenya Police Service Headquarters. 

The blackbelt holder has served at various police stations in his career. He has also been training his colleagues at some of the police stations he has worked in.

Mutuku discovered his talent in Karate while in nursery school and went on to nurture it.

After enlisting into the National Police Service (NPS), Mutuku received support and exposure that has enabled him move higher in the craft. 

He has also undertaken the World Karate Federation Accredited Coach Course in Kumite and Kata in both Nairobi and Netherlands. 

During that period, he helped establish the Police Karate Team.

The Police Karate Team is considered the best performing team in the Kenya Karate Federation Premier League. 

Under him, the Police team has won medals in various categories during the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) games in Kenya and Tanzania. 

In his individual career as a player, Mutuku has been crowned twice as the National Champion in over 60 kilograms Category. He has also represented Kenya in the All Africa Games in Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria. 

In his coaching career, he has trained and led the Kenya Karate National Team to France, Japan, Portugal, United Arab Emirates, and Egypt. 

According to the NPS, the Police Constable has plans to establish a martial arts school in Nairobi to help talented youths in the society. 

“As a way of giving back to society, he plans to establish a martial arts school shortly to impart his irrefutable natural talent to the upcoming martial artists, particularly the less privileged in society,” a statement by the NPS noted.
