The Women's Solidarity Camp in Tunisia on Saturday, May 1, kicked off with the Kenya Lionesses rugby seven a side playing two fixtures and only winning one.

Kenya presented two teams at the tournament with Kenya (A) taking the turf first against Madagascar (A) in a tight fixture that saw the Kenyan ladies succumb to a 14-12 loss in their first meeting.

In the second fixture later that day the Kenya Lionesses (B) redeemed their colleagues that played in the first match by hammering Madagascar (B) 19 - 0 in a what seemed like a one sided match.

The Kenya Lionesses will be expected to play against the hosts today in a two match fixture for their day two at the Solidarity camp in Tunisia's Capital.

The camp in Tunis is being held at the Maison du Rugby where three women's teams, Kenya, Madagascar and hosts Tunisia are converging for training as well as round robin friendly matches in preparation for the Olympic games in Tokyo.

The first round robin set of matches kicked off on Saturday, May 1, and the next one will be played today  while the second tournament will take place on 7th and 8th May.

The Kenya Lionesses head coach Felix Oloo narrated in a post match interview that the team is currently at a good space and hopes that the  Solidarity Camp that was set up by world Rugby and Rugby Afrique will aid the girls in preparation of the main event show in July.

The tactician also added that the camp will be a clear reflection of their input at training over the past week where the team camped at Kasarani. He also added that there has been some positives on the team in terms of improvement of the skill set among the players as compared to the past tournaments in Madrid and Dubai invitational Sevens.
