The FIFA Museum has acquired the shirt of Comoros defender Chaker Alhadhur after having a dramatic AFCON 2021 campaign.

The Comoros defender was forced to stand in as a goalkeeper for his country in their round of 16 match against Cameroon in January 2022.

The World Football Museum announced that they added Alhadhur’s goalkeeper jersey to their collection.

“The FIFA Museum is proud to add the jersey Alhadhur wore during this match to its collection. The makeshift number three on its back commemorates this special moment and is a testament to the strength and willingness to adapt to unforeseen circumstances.

“It is a worthy addition to the FIFA Museum Collection and we are very much looking forward to finding the perfect opportunity to put the jersey on display for the public,” the statement by FIFA Museum read.

The goalkeeper's original jersey was labelled 16 before it was worked on using tape changing it to three.

Despite the game ending in favour of Cameroon, Comoros’ stand-in goalkeeper left the tournament as a national hero and booked a spot in football history.

Alhadhur was converted to a goalkeeper as all three Comoros goalkeepers were unavailable for their match-up against Cameroon.

Ranked 128th by FIFA, Comoros, were taking part in the African tournament for the first time.

In their debut campaign, Comoros were able to record a win against four-time champions Ghana in the group stage securing a place in the knockout stage, another first.

During the match against Cameroon, the left-back turned keeper was able to make a total of four saves.

The 30-year-old is currently playing for French Ligue 2 club Ajaccio as either a left-back or a left midfielder.

Born in France, Alhadhur has spent most of his life in the European country.
