Kenyan international Brian Wandera has set his eyes on featuring in the top tier club rugby competition Super Rugby.

The explosive winger is currently based in Australia where he is undertaking his Masters Degree in Journalism, Wandera  has played his top flight rugby career for the national team where he featured for the Kenya U-19s and Sevens teams.

“So far, it has been good. It was quite challenging at first as the country went into lockdown but I am coping quite well and I have so far adapted to the new normal as it is," Wandera narrated.

Wandera also acknowledged that it has been quite challenging for him to settle and adapt in the new environment far away from home but hopeful that with time things will get much better.

The Mercurial Winger has been signed up by Australian side Melbourne club , Box Hill. The team plays in the Dewar Shield, a feeder competition for the Main team Melbourne Rebels who feature in Super Rugby.

“I am relishing the opportunities here and setting my sights on Super Rugby. To do that, I first have to play for the state team then ideally the Rebels or whichever team that offers me an opportunity.”

The Super rugby competition unites the top Australian clubs which in turn feed players to the national team Wallabies who are considered as one of the rugby power nations in the world.

The Australian Super rugby conference consists of teams such as Brumbies, Waratahs, Western Force and Queensland Reds and Melbourne Rebels.

If his dreams come true Wandera will be the first Kenyan playing in the Super Rugby and will serve as a motivation to the young aspiring rugby players growing up.
