Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has proven to be the best tactician in the English Premier League after bagging two coveted awards.

Klopp pipped rival Manchester City head coach, Pep Guardiola, to win the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Season and the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy for the LMA manager of the year.

Sir Alex Ferguson presented the award to the German on Tuesday, May 24 commending him for his exemplary role in steering the Reds to the finish second with a point less than the league champions Man City.

Liverpool was 14 points behind Manchester City in January but won 16 and drew two of their remaining matches to finish on 92 points, losing two matches, which was the least compared to other teams across the campaign.

"It is a great honour and it was an insane season. The last matchday when only two games were meaningless and, in the rest, we all played for absolutely everything" stated Klopp while receiving the trophy.

"It was a bit nervy, it wasn't the best outcome for us, but we are already over it. And when you win a prize like this you are either a genius, or you have the best coaching staff in the world," he recognized his four assistant coaches who were also at the event.

Klopp won the award for a second time, having also claimed it in 2019/20 after leading Liverpool to their first Premier League title.

The 54-year-old won after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide who would top a five-man shortlist.

The Sir Alex Ferguson award is endorsed by managers across all the divisions which Klopp admitted makes it even nobler for him.

"This being voted for by my colleagues is obviously the most important prize you can get."

"I don't believe in individual prizes in football generally, it is a team sport and I would be nothing without these boys there. It is all about what we can do together and what we did together," stated Klopp commending his team.

The German will now hope to end the campaign on a high when Liverpool faces off with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday adding to their EFL Cup and FA Cup wins for the 2021/22 season.
