A thief invaded the Nairobi City Stars dressing room at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani on Sunday, May 29, and took off with the players' clothes and valuables including phones and cash during the FKF Premier League face-off with Gor Mahia.
Adding to their frustration, Nairobi City Stars lost 2-3 to Mashemeji Derby winners Gor Mahia. Nairobi City Stars' performance in the second half was reported to have been adversely affected by the theft.
The thief strategically sneaked into the changing room in the first half of the game when City Stars were keen on gathering momentum to secure their chance of winning the match.

To the players' surprise, they found their valuables missing from their bags when they got into the dressing room after the first half with one player losing Ksh30,000 cash. The theft forced a five-minute delay in the second half.
The theft at Kasarani was unanticipated since it is a stadium of international repute with top-notch security standards.
The case has since been reported at the Kasarani police station with investigations set to commence.
Similar cases have been also been reported in European football. In 2021, Jessie Lingard's customized designer watch was stolen from West Ham's dressing room in their EPL 1-0 loss to Everton.
Gor Mahia took the lead despite playing without a goalkeeper in the last 20 minutes of the match.
The green army's keeper Gad Matthews was handed a red card for handling the ball outside his area - denying City Stars' Anthony Kimani a perfect chance to score.
Kimani scored Simba wa Nairobi's first goal in the 33 rd minute with Gor Mahia's Samuel Onyango netting one goal to finish the first half with a 1-1 tie.
Timothy Ouma scored City Stars' final goal at the start of the second half with John Macharia and striker Benson Omala scoring two goals to make Gor Mahia clinch the match victory.
