Liverpool Announces Mental Health Programme After Champions League Final Loss

2022 Champions League finalists Liverpool, has offered support to its fans who are dealing with the distressing events at the final.

In a statement released by the club, it was noted that Liverpool was working with various mental health organizations to help fans cope with the events at the Champions League final.

“The club has pledged financial assistance for those organizations already in high demand and is encouraging fans to seek support if they feel they need it at this time.

“The scenes witnessed in and around Stade de France, before and after kick-off, on Saturday night will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. 

“Liverpool Football Club wants supporters to know that expert help is available,” part of the statement read.

The final between Liverpool and Real Madrid was played in Frane at the Stade de France on Saturday, May 28.

Before the kick-off fans who had queued up to gain access to the ground grew in number with local police firing teargas and pepper sprays to control the crowd outside.

The altercation between the fans and the police led to the match being delayed for 36 minutes with a significant number yet to access the pitch despite the match starting.

After the 1-0 loss to Real Madrid Liverpool also expressed their disappointment in how their fans were treated by the local authorities.

The Reds went ahead to request n investigation into the incidents of that day and UEFA has launched a probe on the matter.

"UEFA has today announced it has commissioned an independent report into the events surrounding the UEFA Champions League final in Paris on Saturday 28 May.

“The comprehensive review will examine decision making, responsibility and behaviour of all entities involved in the final,” part of a statement by UEFA read.
